More personal work

The royal we here at Cutts Imaging Group have been busy, and that's groovy.  A shoot we had scheduled for Saturday morning got canceled so T and I took a little drive up to Wrightwood, CA for a little date/scouting mission.  On the way home we stopped at one of T's favorite places Mormon Rocks, where I shot these first two.

After a coffee break we headed up old Waterman Canyon road to an organic fruit stand T wanted to check out, we picked up the last apples of the session and a couple of avocados, awesome.

New personal work ... maybe.

So I got this great idea laying awake in bed one night, unfortunately not a rare state, so I had to go shoot some tests.  Now the light hasn't been great the last few days and we might not have interesting skies for a while here in Sunny SoCal.  Even so I'm liking how these first few tests (they are tests I know they are not perfect) turned out ... if you are one of the three people who read this you'll probably see more.

A couple of test shots

Like most photographers, I test my lighting setups (we used to shoot polaroids) before the talent is ready.  Ideally I like to get the basics right before the talent even arrives on set so I can get to know them a little while they are in hair and make up.

Avalon was our model a few weeks ago I grabbed this test of her, mostly because she's awesome.

A few months ago we rented a studio for a shoot.  While I was setting up and bullshitting with the studio manager (unfortunately I'm kind of horrible with names) he offered to stand in.  I love the braided goatee.

Anne-Marie Mueschke

Tara and I photographed Anne-Marie Wednesday afternoon at Travel Town in Griffith Park before we headed to Dances with Films to see a screening of Losing Ferguson a short film out friend Trisha wrote and directed.  Oh yeah and we shot the still photos for her.

Anne-Marie is beautiful, graceful and expressive it was so easy to work with her.

I wanted to shoot with our lens baby (which usually sits forgotten in my bag), and an off camera flash, to experiment and of course have a little fun.

The f2.8 ring was way to soft for me, but I do like these two, but I did put the f8 ring in.

After Anne-Marie changed outfits I changed to a "real" lens.

Fun photographing my wife

My wife is awesome, for one she loves me, which amazes me most days; on top of that mostly unbelievable revelation she is one of the smartest people I know, damn funny, and pretty.  Tara's mother gave her a collection of old glasses that belonged to family members.  Tara has been collecting vintage outfits for as long as I can remember.

So a few weeks a go we played pictures for a couple of hours ... enjoy please.

Blooming Yucca.

T and I drove up I-15 and got off on CA-138 then headed up Lone pine Canyon Road to scout a location.  It was kind of cool!
