I haven't shot much since our daughter was born in December, but I managed to sneak out of the house and make this, with a few friends

Bri's Headshot
So I drove out to my favorite "park" in LA to shoot Bri's headshot. We meet through her friend Felisha, who has been trying to get Bri, who is at least 5'10" modeling.
After we nailer her headshot, she wanted to try a bit of a fashiony look. While it may not have been the best spot to shoot a for what she wanted, we worked it a bit and I love how this turned out.

Kim agency test
I drove out to Malibu, CA Monday afternoon to shoot a quick test with Kim. Kim grew up in Juneau, AK and came to LA for the weather, but I bet she had a job too. Kim is a competitive jump roper, and like me, you didn't know there was competitive jump roping! She's represented as a model by Sports + Lifestyle Unlimited, and looking for some new images for her comp card.
She needed some lifestyle beachy images for her book, I of course had to grab a headshot.
We originally had agreed to shoot Sunday morning, but a tickle in my throat Saturday morning erupted into a full blown cold by Sunday morning, and it would have been freezing (okay California freezing).
I did not neglect my lensbaby which quite often sits in my bag neglected. It's a fun little piece of glass which I tend to think of as a toy, but it's actually a tool like any other lens. I just need to spend some time mastering it.

Mojito Bikini Look Book by Cutts Imaging Group
I shot a little look book for Mojito Bikini a few weeks ago. I hooked up with Caroline an Australian designer living here in LA. We meet at a Elyria Canyon Park, set up a makeshift make-up station for Genevieve, who knocked it out of the park. I got to spent the afternoon shooting Maggie. It was hot ... um, I mean the temperature was hot.
Anyway these are my picks from the shoot, Caroline has a different needs and I delivered her those files.

Erin DeGraw for Virtual Noise.
Friday here in Edmonton I shoot Erin for an Atlanta based website www.visualnoise.org. We shoot for a couple of hours near her home, and I talked her into shooting a little portfolio piece for me.
These are a few of her picks for virtual noise.
I thought the eye make-up was a bit much, however that's what they wanted for a sexy Oh Canada theme.

Anne-Marie Mueschke
Tara and I photographed Anne-Marie Wednesday afternoon at Travel Town in Griffith Park before we headed to Dances with Films to see a screening of Losing Ferguson a short film out friend Trisha wrote and directed. Oh yeah and we shot the still photos for her.
Anne-Marie is beautiful, graceful and expressive it was so easy to work with her.
I wanted to shoot with our lens baby (which usually sits forgotten in my bag), and an off camera flash, to experiment and of course have a little fun.
The f2.8 ring was way to soft for me, but I do like these two, but I did put the f8 ring in.
After Anne-Marie changed outfits I changed to a "real" lens.

Mladenka Grgic headshots by Cutts Imaging Group
I meet Mladenka and her brother Luke in Pasadena a week or two ago. After a short talk about what roles and types she was targeting we walked over to my favorite spot and shot for a couple of hours.
She wanted to shoot in natural light and I was happy to comply, and since she brought Luke I recruited him as my assistant for the day. Mostly he held reflectors told stories and answered my questions. I had lots they immigrated to California from Croatia via Germany really an interesting story.
After we moved to this spot for a dark background, I used Luke as a voice activated light stand (V.A.L.S.) with my 580exll as a little hair light.
I'm happy with how these turned out, and wish Mladenka luck with her budding career.

Malena From last Friday. Cutts Imaging Group
I shoot Malena last Friday, for fashion stylists Naomi Shimomura and Shaina Rivera who are prepping their portfolios. We started on the beach in Santa Monica, and ended up at a home in the Pacific Palisades. These are a few quick out takes while the ladies pick their selects.
I experimented with a few different post processing looks because Naomi and Shaina wanted an antique soft look for the final edits. So I threw these together for them.

Sonny Valens headshot by Cutts Imaging Group
Sonny has been an entertainer for years, he started his career as a pro wrestler and for the last few years has been acting. We hooked up via Craigslist, and we met downtown by the train station. Usually I like to shoot in a studio setting where I can control the light. Sonny wanted a bit of a grungy background, so we walked around, but as you can see we decided to shoot close and tight.
Sonny has been cast as a hispanic tough guy on a bunch of television shows, including one of fav's The Shield.
I did talk him into trying a more commercial look for a few, frames.
We went back to shooting for his badass type and nailed these last two.
